Earlier, Information Minister Atta Tarar had stressed that there was credible evidence to support the PTI ban, citing issues such as foreign funding, the May 9 incident, allegations of helping resettle terrorists, the code controversy and resolutions passed in the United States.

He also mentioned plans to initiate Article 6 proceedings against former Prime Minister Arif Alvi, former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri for violating the Constitution during the dissolution of the assemblies following a no-confidence motion against the then Prime Minister.
