International sensations Banda El Limón and Aurora’s own Alacranes Musical headline Fiestas Patrias Fest

Aurora’s very own Alacranes Musical is one of the headliners at the annual Fiestas Patrias Festival on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8.

RiverEdge Park, in partnership with the City of Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board and the City of Aurora, will host the 12th annual Fiestas Patrias Festival on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8.

The event, which raised more than $200,000 in scholarships for Spanish-speaking, college-going Aurora residents in 2023, now returns in grand style, headlined by Latin Grammy Award-winning bands El Banda Límon and Aurora’s own Alacranes Musical.

Gates open at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway in downtown Aurora. Opening acts include TikTok sensation Janeth Valenzuela at 5 p.m. and regional Mexican icon José Manuel Figueroa at 7 p.m. El Banda Límon takes the stage at 9 p.m.

Gates open at 3pm on Sunday and live music begins at 4pm with Grammy Award winner Lupillo Rivera, at 6pm with renowned Mexican regional group Liberación, at 7:45pm with the famous El Grito chant and at 8:30pm with Aurora’s own Alacranes Musical, winner of the 2009 Latin Grammy.

Fiestas Patrias also features some of the region’s best food stalls, the traditional Parade of Nations and a ceremony to honor the past year’s scholarship winners.

Tickets are on sale now. On Saturday, tickets are $20 or $10 for 11 and under. On Sunday, tickets are $20 or $5 for 11 and under. Children 2 and under are free.

Fiestas Patrias fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at paramountaurora.com/events/fiestas-patrias-2024/, while supplies last. Due to high demand, there is no guarantee that tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

Proceeds from Fiestas Patrias go toward funding scholarships that assist college-going Hispanic students who live in Aurora. Scholarships are administered by the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.

How to Rock Your RiverEdge Park Experience

RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway in downtown Aurora, is a general admission venue. Bag chairs are recommended. Bag chairs and blankets are allowed on the lawns. Standing room only next to the stage.

RiverEdge Park is located directly across from Metra’s Aurora Transportation Center. Motorists can pay to park at the nearby Metra parking lot, park for free in downtown Aurora’s Lot W, 309 N. River St., at the foot of the new pedestrian bridge on the west side of the Fox River, and find additional public and private parking around the park and in downtown Aurora.

Concessions include a varied menu and bar featuring domestic and craft beer, wine, soft drinks, bottled water and more. Local food trucks also line the lawn behind the house. Outside dining is welcome. No alcohol or other outside beverages are permitted, with the exception of two sealed bottles of unscented water per person.
