SHC directs HDA to submit details of last 6 months expenditure, pension funds

HYDERABAD – The Sindh High Court has ordered the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) to make public the details of entire pension funds invested by the authority.

According to details, the Hyderabad Circuit Bench on Friday directed HDA Director General Pervez Baloch to also submit details of all payments made by the authority in the last six months. The direction was given in a petition filed by 29 pensioners and their families, requesting the court to direct the HDA to release their pension amounts as per law. The bench noted that during the hearing, the HDA DG did not deny that all the petitioners were entitled to pensions.

The DG told the court that the delays in the release of pensions were due to financial constraints. The claimants, including Muhammad Younus Memon, Kafeel Ahmed, Masood Ahmed Jumani, Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Syed Nadeem Rizwan and other retired officers, complained before the court that their pensions had been stopped since September 2023. They said they were worried about the pension funds of HDA employees.

According to the, the fund was earlier invested by the authority in various banks such as National Savings Centre, Soneri Bank, Allied Bank Limited and Muslim Commercial Bank, among others, for the welfare of the pensioners. They asked the court to order the HDA to immediately release their pensions along with all arrears. After hearing the two parties, the SHC adjourned the hearing till July 31.
